  1. Intake and job profile: We get to know your organisation and draw up a sharp job profile together, including language requirements.
  2. Search and outreach: We approach candidates personally, in their own language, and conduct the first interviews.
  3. Selection and screening: We screen carefully for suitability and for the willingness of the candidate and their family to move.
  4. Offer and aftercare: We guide the offer and the start, and stay involved during the first months.

Candidates from other countries can find it difficult to gauge Dutch salary levels, as they compare with their own market. We therefore benchmark the salary level in advance. Employers will also be required to include a salary range in job postings under the Pay Transparency Act. Read more in our article on the Pay Transparency Act.

Relocation support

An international placement succeeds or fails on whether the candidate and their family actually make the move. That is why we discuss this early in the process, not just when the offer is made.

We know what the candidate faces practically when moving to the Netherlands and think along with them, from the initial orientation to the first day at work. We also stay involved with both the candidate and the employer in the first period after employment begins.

Tax arrangements for foreign employees change regularly. As an employer, you coordinate this with your own tax adviser.

Highly skilled migrant or EU citizen

EU, EEA, or Switzerland. Employees from the EU, EEA, and Switzerland fall under the free movement of workers. They do not need a work permit and can be hired directly.

Outside the EU. Professionals from outside the EU fall under the highly skilled migrant scheme. The employer must be a recognised sponsor with the IND and meet the salary threshold, which is indexed annually. Consult the IND for current figures.

We determine in advance which route applies to your candidate.

Frequently asked questions about international recruitment

When do I need a permit for an international candidate?

Only for candidates from outside the EU, the EEA or Switzerland. For that group, the IND highly skilled migrant scheme applies. We find out in advance which route applies to your candidate.

How long does an international search take?

We usually present a shortlist of candidates within three to four weeks. The full process up to the first working day typically takes two to four months. The timeline mainly depends on the candidate's notice period and their move.

What does international recruitment at Orenta cost?

The fee structure is the same as for our recruitment and selection service: no cure no pay, with a fee of 20 per cent of the successful candidate's gross annual salary. Payment is spread: 50 per cent on hire, 25 per cent after the probationary period, and 25 per cent after four months.

What happens if the candidate does not stay?

You pay the fee in instalments, so the final payments are only due after a successful start. If the candidate leaves during the probationary period, the remaining instalments are waived and we work with you to find an appropriate solution.
